If not always but sometimes we end up getting into contract with services that are either expensive or the quality of service is not as expected.
When I signed the contract with my phone company(i have both phone and internet with them), I forgot to ask what was included in my 50GB download limit and the salesman didn’t bring it up to me– apparently my 50GB limit included both ways data (upload and download).
This has become very uncomfortable for me with my home broadband constantly reaching the limit and I was paying $30/month more compared to other providers.
I wanted to move away from this provider but I was in a 24 month contract with them, so it was not that easy to opt for some other product that met my requirements.
After months of procrastination I decided to look into this and this is how I got out of my phone and internet contract with out any loss to me.
Going through Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman site and my Phone contract this is what I understood.
Telecommunication service provider can’t restrict you if you want to move house. They have to move their service to the area you wish to move and charge you a moving fee.
They can’t penalize or charge you in any way or form if you are moving into an area where their service is not yet available
