Years back when I was going through my community library I stumbled across the book “From 0 to 130 Properties in 3.5 Years” by Steve McKnight, in a nutshell this book talks about how he built his empire, while working as accountant and at the end of the book you will be introduced to sales page for RESULTS mentoring program. This was the first time I came to know about him and his property building strategy (in year 2007).
Since then I do visit his blog and website to get latest updates on the property. Every year he conducts seminar to give an update on property, in year 2009 I paid $600 and went to the seminar (I can’t remember if it was 4 or 5 days). The seminar was good in a way it introduces to the top money makers in the market from various stream i.e internet marketing, property, shares, Tax liens etc., you are also introduced to some motivational speakers, success stories and at the end their products.
There was the man whom I was reading and following – Steve McKnight, he made the welcoming speech. I listened to his presentations and spoke to him off the stage. He came across as a true god loving person who can be trusted and believes his success depends on others success.
A powerful sales strategy
I have to admit this is a powerful sales strategy any business can adopt, you have your leads sitting there for 4 days (open-minded) motivated, pumped up with success stories, all you need to do is present the product, you don’t have to sell anything all the selling is done by speakers from various stream of life with their stories.
Just like any one I was pumped up to achieve in life. I made quite a few friends in that seminar some purchased course in share market and others bought course on Tax liens. Even though Mentors have conducted separate seminars for people who are interested in RESULTS program as part of it they also warned the intensity, commitment and hard ship to be successful in that course, I was pumped up from the seminar and didn’t really think failure applied to me :).
How much was it any way?
None of the courses were cheap, the cheapest course was Tax Liens at $2500 dollars, where as the share market course was priced at $10,000 with a free laptop, and it was a market selling financial freedom promises for buyers on high.
The Results mentoring program was priced at $9000 (approx.) and then they introduced seminar special discount making it $7000. I was more interested in RESULTS program, for me $7000 was 9 months of saving in those days, there were few days after the course as a cooling off period that i took to finalize my decision, eventually I decided to purchase Steve’s RESULTS mentoring program, I paid $7000 dollars, made the decision to go ahead.
Program concept and structure
For those who don’t know what RESULTS mentoring program is, it’s a learning path where in Steve and his team would teach you how to buy positive cash flow properties, sub divide or renovate to make a lump sum profit. During the seminar they take you through the recent property developments that they have done, and the profits they reaped.
The structure of the course was that, Steve has few people under him who have been teaching the course for a while, each student is assigned a mentor. Mentor is arranged based on the experience you have in property development, for example an amateur would get a junior mentor. This was a one year program, where the course material is sent by post every fortnightly to monthly depending on the module. There is on-line member site that has all the recordings of previous webinars, templates and discussions.
My mentor at that time was Lynn Buckingham wife of Simon Buckingham, she joined that year as a mentor. By that time both Simon and Lynn had quite a few properties under their belt that they have developed, so even though it was her first year as mentor I believe she would have good knowledge in property development. Irrespective of the assigned mentor they always said that we had access to Steve or any other mentor we would like to speak.
There I was officially a student of RESULTS mentoring program 5th batch, I was excited and wanted to make most out of the course. In the next part I will blog about my learning experience and more in-depth review of the RESULTS course.
